Former NBA veteran Eric Williams' teammates are rallying to his defense, claiming the 12-year veteran is a "great guy" and reality shows simply bring out the worst in people.

Tony Delk, who played with Williams with the Boston Celtics, further tells TMZ Sports his ex-teammate has a "great heart" and is "as generous a guys as I've ever met," a far cry from the way former reality TV show castmate Tami Roman described Williams and responded to news this week that he is now broke and homeless.

"He was always smiling and happy about life," Delk added of the Williams he remembers.

Earlier this week, Roman reasoned Williams' hard fall is a clear indication "God don't like ugly," basing her comments on the way Williams once treated wife Jen Williams on the Basketball Wives reality show they all starred on.

During one on-air scene, Williams even once threw a drink in his ex's face, prompting Roman, who was once married to Kenny Anderson, to contend his current misfortune is merely karma coming back to bite him for the way he treated others while he was on top.

"God doesn't like ugly," she said. "Meanwhile, my girl Jen is being a beauty enjoying her new life and loving her new life.
