The University of Texas has been in a slump the past few years, but Mack Brown is gone and it’s Charlie Strong’s show now. Of course, a National Championship is always the goal when it comes to coaching a team, but Strong believes that goal is far from reality this year at Texas.

Strong is not sugarcoating the struggles Texas will have in his first season at the helm and was brutally honest with the ones who think Texas will be a national contender.

"We have everything available, and I don't know why we can't be successful. There’s no reason for us not to be. Now, I can't tell you how soon it's going to be. Don't hold me to that. Don't say, 'Ooh, coach said next year we'll be in the national ...' We will not be in the national championship game.”

Being the head coach of Texas comes with a certain standard of expectations, but Strong has swatted those aside for a more practical and realistic outlook. This method can only hold off the dogs for so long and if strong doesn't get the Longhorns off to a hot start in 2014 and 2015, he could be looking down the wrong end of a short stay in Texas.
