Patrick Marleau, Ryan O'Reilly and Martin St. Louis are each entrenched in battles for the Stanley Cup during the first round of the NHL Playoffs, but the trio is also in competition with each other for another award as the three were named as Lady Byng Award finalists for their sportsmanship.

According to NHL.com, the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy is awarded "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability," and the NHL announced Tuesday that Marleau, O'Reilly and St. Louis were the finalists.

Marleau, 30, of the San Jose Sharks is up for the Lady Byng award for the second time in his career and first time since 2006 after appearing in all 82 games for the Sharks and finishing second on the team with 33 goals and third on the team in assists (37) and points (70).

O'Reilly, 23, played a huge role in the Colorado Avalanche winning the Central Division this year, putting up a career-high 64 points off of a team-high 28 goals while adding 36 assists. O'Reilly was whistled for just one minor penalty during the regular-season.

St. Louis, 38, split time between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers this season after he was dealt to New York at the NHL's trade deadline. St. Louis notched 30 goals for the second time in his career and is looking for his second Lady Byng Trophy in a row and fourth in five years. He tallied 39 assists for a total of 69 points in 2013-14.

The Lady Byng Award is named after the wife of Canada's Governor-General at the time the award was first given out, and it has been given out annually since 1924-25. The winner of the Lady Byng award will be announced on Tuesday, June 24, during the 2014 NHL Awards from Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
