Merril Hoge returned to ESPN's First Take to sound off on Jadeveon Clowney again, but this time he got it on tape instead of hear say with Skip Bayless. Hoge may have finally found the storyline that will cause mass hysteria among the common folk in the form of calling South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney an “atrocious” football player.

Hoge once predicted that Texas Longhorn turned Tennessee Titans' quarterback Vince Young would be a bust when everyone was salivating over the possibility of grabbing the Longhorn. Since that day, Hoge has made it a point to say one outlandish statement after another in an attempt to match the one time he called a bust a bust.
Merril Hoge Prefers Michael Sam to Clowney
Hoge continued his rampage on Clowney going as far as to say he was "Not a very good football player .. Gets controlled & trucked a lot.” Now I am not as high on Clowney as others, but at no point does anyone truly believe Clowney is “atrocious” by any means. At his very worst Clowney will be a serviceable defensive end prospect who will be very handy in obvious passing situations. Atrocious? I think not.
Hoge Thinks Manziel Has 'Bust Written All Ocer Him'
In typical Hoge fashion, he would choose Buffalo’s Khalil Mack over Clowney and would hand the card to the commissioner “in a heartbeat” if he was the one making the decision. The response of the day goes to Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller who insisted that day drinking is officially a thing at ESPN in light of Hoges’ comments.
