The St. Louis Rams insist they are not going to draft Johnny Manziel with the No. 2 pick.

Now, the No. 13 pick is a different story.

NFL.com is reporting that the Rams aren't planning on drafting a quarterback with the No. 2 selection in May's NFL draft to replace Sam Bradford, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft.

That doesn't mean the Rams won't take a quarterback with one of their later picks to compete with the oft-injured Bradford. One mock draft lists Manziel going to St. Louis with the No. 13 pick, according to NFL.com.

"We've definitely scouted QBs," Snead told NFL Media's Adam Schein on Sirius XM Mad Dog Sports Radio on Monday, according to NFL.com. ".... (The 2014 draft) happens to be deeper from top to bottom at the QB position than it has been in years. ... You're going to have more QBs on the board. Hey, you've got be willing to decide at a particular spot in the draft if that's the best player for your organization or not."

That doesn't bode well for Bradford, whom the Rams wouldn't even consider bringing in competition if their management still felt he was the quarterback of their future.

The idea, as of now, is that the Rams want a rookie to be able to come in and compete with Bradford "in a year or two."

The Rams play in the toughest division in the NFL with the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals all winning 10 or more games in 2013. It may be prudent for St. Louis to build a defense or some other aspect of the team first before it commits to another inexperienced quarterback.

St. Louis may not be ready to compete with the rest of the division in 2014 and could learn to stockpile talent in 2015. So it's value first with the No. 2 selection, but other than that, the quarterback position could be in play with any of the Rams' other picks.

The 26-year-old Bradford had his best season statistically in 2013 and has a couple of weapons in running back Zac Stay and wide receiver Tavon Austin. But Bradford better show that he's ready to take the next step as a quarterback and lead the Rams to the playoffs.

Because it's likely that he'll be looking over his shoulder.
