Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson is back in South Bend and ready to prove that he is worthy of the Fighting Irish, starting with spring practice. Golson is returning to the team and the school after he was dismissed for violating the school's academic integrity code in the classroom.

Golson has had the jitters of being back in the locker room with his teammates since his last appearance was when he led the Fighting Irish to a 12-0 record and a National Championship berth. When asked about whats motivating him to get Notre Dame back in a National Championship state of mind Golson answered.

"I have that mindset that I do want to be great. So it's not about just getting back into the flow for me. It's every day to come out you're going to work to be the best that I can be.”

Head coach Brian Kelly didn’t commit to Golson as the teams starting quarterback for the Irish’s Aug. 30th season opener against Rice, but sophomore Malik Zaire spoke out and said he believes he will be the team's starter. Kelly said that both the quarterbacks are struggling this spring and it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

"It's really hard on them. But I'd rather have it be difficult so when I go into that meeting we have great meetings that we can teach off of and learn off of and get better at.”

The Irish had their spring game April 12th and Zaire played much better than Golson. Zaire threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns compared to Golson’s 154 yards behind mostly backup skill players and a second string offensive line.
