Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Chicago White Sox (8-8) and Texas Rangers (9-7) take the field for the first game in a three-game weekend series live from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The game can be live streamed for free here. Chicago fans can hear all of the action on WSCR 670 while Texas fans can do the same on 103.3 ESPN.
The White Sox look to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping two of three to the Boston Red Sox as the team embarks on the first game in a seven-game road trip while the Rangers are on a three-game winning streak after defeating the Seattle Mariners in three of four and begin their final series of a 10-game homestand.
Felipe Paulino takes the hill for Chicago and is 0-1 with a 7.98 ERA thus far this season while Martin Perez toes the rubber for Texas and is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA.
The Rangers have finished better than the White Sox in every season since 2010, but the team hasn't been able to win the season series against Chicago in that span, even losing both series to them in 2013.
"Some teams match up well," Rangers manager Ron Washington said per MLB.com. "They have pitching and they have some hitters that are pretty dangerous in that lineup. It being 2014, maybe it will change."
The White Sox have had a solid start to 2014 and lead the league with 87 runs while ranking second in OPS (.762) and on-base percentage (.338).
The Rangers will hope that Perez continues to coax teams into double plays as the 23-year-old has had a knack to do.
One player to look out for on the White Sox is Alexei Ramirez, who has a hit in all 16 games this season and hit safely in his last 20 dating back to 2013. Ramirez is fourth in the league with a .381 average along with 24 hits in 63 at-bats.
Rangers second baseman Elvis Andrus ranks fifth in the league with six stolen bases and is hitting .302 on the campaign.
The White Sox have been able to work counts thus far this season, which has contributed to their success.
"I think it's something you have to do, and I think it's something that wears on pitchers, it gets you to the 'pen," said Sox leadoff man Adam Eaton, who it second in the league with 15 runs scored, via MLB.com. "The more pitches you see, the more you can help your teammates see the pitches, see what he's got and what's going on."
The White Sox and Rangers jumpstart their weekend series tonight when they take the field at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington tonight live from Texas.
