Following a dismal first season in their new ballpark, the Miami Marlins are facing a backlash from unhappy fans threatening to boycot the team. 2012 was supposed to be a turnaround for the Miami franchise, adopting the name of their home city and vowing to no longer be a francise making trades based on financial struggles.

However, owner Jeffrey Loria proved that the Miami team was no different from years past as the Florida Marlins. Loria completed what many regard as a "fire sale trade" sending Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, and Mark Buehrle to Toronto for prospects. Loria has traded 12 players since July, many of which have were previous all starts and/or starters

Fed up with broken promises, Marlins fans are threatening to boycott the team, leaving an uncertain future for Loria's dream franchise. But the owner remains optimistic of his team.

"It's a ballclub with some pretty impressive players," Loria told the Miami Herald. Loria also took out a full page article entitled "Letter To Our Fans" in South Florida's three major daily newspapers.

But, for the team to truly win over fans, they will need an immediate turn around, which is doubtful with the current lineup
