TNA Impact founder Jeff Jarrett's new wrestling promotion Global Force Wrestling has announced a production deal with 25/7 Productions and Dave Broome, the creator of NBC's 'The Biggest Loser.'

The goal of the partnership is for Broome and his team to help GFW with unscripted programming that Jeff Jarrett hopes will be a real competitor in the professional wrestling landscape that is ruled by WWE and includes his former company TNA.

Speaking of TNA, could Global Force Wrestling be a threat to Impact Wrestling's current TV contract with Spike? Jarrett himself shut down the rumor with The Wrestling Observer last week, specifying that he could not pitch any ideas to Spike TV as per a contractual agreement with TNA when he left the company.

Jeff Jarrett launches new promotion Global Force Wrestling

As far as this wrestling fan is concerned, I welcome any and all competition to the marketplace. WWE was at its best when Ted Turner's deep pockets enabled WCW to sign top stars away from Vince McMahon, and there may not have ever been an Attitude Era in WWE if it weren't for the Monday Night Wars of the 1990s.

At the same time, let's be realistic. Jeff Jarrett has tried this before with TNA, and while he and Dixie Carter made some waves over the years, those waves have barely caused a ripple where WWE is concerned.

The next step for me to take Global Force Wrestling seriously is to see which wrestling talent they bring in and how they present their product. I am looking forward to those developments as they arrive.
