Derek Carr has been a hot a name as any quarterback entering May’s NFL Draft, but he may be the least vocal when it comes to media and drawing attention to himself. Carr, speaking completely out of character, declared he believes he is the best quarterback in the draft.

“I’m absolutely the best quarterback in the draft.”

Carr has risen from a middle of the pack prospect to possibly breaking into the top 10. The highest Carr has been ranked is to the Oakland Raiders at No. 5, but he could go as high as the second round barring a trade.

Carr hasn't been one to speak about his status with the teams in the draft or his status as opposed to the other prospects, but did fire a shot in the media by his standards. Carr continued to speak about where he has been told he will be drafted.

Carr — who did not throw at February’s NFL Scouting Combine — also said the potential definitely exists for him to go before one of the draft’s top three quarterbacks: UCF’s Blake Bortles, Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater and Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. “From what I’ve heard … it’ll work out that way,” he said.

All of Carr’s comments came on the NFL Network's “NFL AM”.

The picture at quarterback is not as clear as it was during the college football season. Whether it is draft fatigue for the top prospects, or the scouts and talent evaluators are truly finding more flaws in the prospects, don’t be surprised to see some names fall and some rise in the coming weeks.
