Tennessee (17-10, 9-6) entered Tuesday night's matchup with a five consecutive wins, the longest current streak by an SEC team. The Vols hoped this momentum would play in their favor as they took on No.8 Florida (22-5, 12-3), currently the top team in the Southeastern Conference.

It did.

The Vols shocked the Gators with a 64-58 home win at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday. Tennessee moves up to fifth in the SEC in what has become a tightly contested race for teams to gain a bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

Jordan McRae continued his stellar junior season scoring 27 points for the Vols. McRae was aided by strong play off the boards from Jarnell Stokes, who grabbed 14 rebounds and added eight points of his own.

Tennessee and Florida both shot a field goal percentage of .421 in what was a tightly contested game, with both teams seeing their largest leads being in single digits.

The Vols will look to continue their winning ways as travel to Athens to take on Georgia (13-14, 7-7) on Saturday. Tennessee will end their regular season play with a road game against Auburn and a home matchup against Missouri.
