The quarterback frenzy has begun to hit critical levels as some of the more unlikely prospects are getting a huge boost in stock. According to Peter King of MMQB.com, Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage has become the draft's hottest topic.

In the report from King, he spoke with draft guru Gil Brandt who shared the surprising news of Savage and the status of the quarterback needy teams of the top 10. According t0 King and Brandt, the Texans (1), Jaguars (3), Browns (4) and Raiders (5) are looking into alternative answers at quarterback simply because they don’t love any of the prospects.

For the Texans specifically, they have the opportunity to grab a player like Jadeveon Clowney with the number one overall pick and can still “steal” a player like Tom Savage in the second round. When asked about Savage, Brandt had nothing but stellar words about the oft-transferred quarterback.

“The hottest guy in the draft.”

And Savage’s agent, Neil Schwartz, also told two unnamed teams that Savage couldn’t make an official private visit because he doesn't have an opening on his schedule do to other appointments.

“There are literally no days left on his calendar for him to go see any other teams,”

King is high on Savage as well and believe he will continue to climb the draft boards at this key period.

“Amazing to think a player so itinerant and with so little college success could be leap-frogging A.J. McCarron, Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger. But there’s a good chance Savage will.”

Look for Savage to make the final jump within the next week or two and with Aaron Murray’s Pro Day this week, he could also make that jump as one of the drafts top quarterbacks. The Texans and Savage/Murray could be a match made in heaven with the No. 33 overall pick.
