Two clubs in opposite halves of the Spanish Liga table will do battle today in a league match between Getafe and Atlético Madrid. The first-division clash scheduled for 1 p.m. ET will be held at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in Getafe and can be live streamed here free.
With his side facing relegation—Getafe are currently 18th in the Spanish Liga table with 31 points—manager Cosmin Contra insists a fighting spirit will be the embodiment of his club on Sunday and in the years to come (h/t to Inside Spanish Football). "We're playing against the best team in Spain right now. They're in good form, they will be euphoric and with huge confidence," Contra said.
"To get points, we'll have to compete with them. We'll have to fight for every ball. I hear a lot of people saying that Atlético aren't going to finish the season well, but they look just the same to me and just as competitive," he added.
"I've tried to work hard and get results at all the teams I've managed. So far, I've done that, but it's what I hope to do at Getafe too. I'm certain that if we secure our safety, next season Getafe will be fighting for a European finish. I know that those are my ambitions. If we reach safety this season, the Getafe fans are really going to enjoy this team."
