For what it’s worth reports of the Wonderlic scores are starting to make their rounds across the internet and media reports. Johnny Manziel continues to impress in the offseason preparations for the draft by posting the highest score among quarterbacks.
Sports World News NFL Mock Draft 5.0
The wonderlic for those who don’t know, the Wonderlic is a 50-question test in 12 minutes that is designed to test the common knowledge of a person. The test uses word problems and math equations to test speed and just intelligence on a high school level.
Manziel has rumored to have scored a 32 of 50 which would put him at the top of his quarterback class. Some teams take the test more seriously than others, but players are more often hurt than helped by the test. If a player scores in the 30s it is considered something they should do, but if they preform poorly it raises red flags as to why the player preformed so poorly.
History tells us that the Wonderlic doesn’t predict future NFL success considering the varying scores. For example Ryan Fitzpatrick, a Harvard graduate, and Greg McElroy have the highest recorded scores at 48 and 43 respectively. On the other side of the spectrum, Dan Marino, Terry Bradshaw and Steve McNair all scored a 15.
Manziel gets a minimal stock bump, but it is a better situation than scoring a single digit score. Manziel solidifies one more area that teams found care about with a stellar score and leading his class in the classroom.
