After one day, it is Bill Haas who leads the pack in a day where some big names have preformed and others struggled. Haas comes into his 17th Masters round fresh off firing his brother as his caddy and a bittersweet moment has to be that Haas is preforming well without him.
"I needed to switch it up. My brother has been on the bag a bunch for a few years and I think I needed a change.”
Haas sits atop a leaderboard that has the likes of 2013 winner Adam Scott, 2012 winner Bubba Watson and 2012 runner-up Louis Oosthuizen. Haas also lead at the end of last week’s Houston Open after one round, but finished the tournament tied for 37th.
"I know there's tons of golf left. And maybe understanding that, I know that I can't expect too much.”
Other notable results from day one include Rory McIlroy and Ricky Fowler tied for 12th at 1-under, Sergio Garcia tied for 39th at 2-over and Phil Mickelson tied for 67th at 4-over with a projected cut of 7-over.
Adam Scott remains one stroke back despite a double bogey on the par three 12th hole.
