According to multiple sources, the Braves are reworking their pyrotechnics after a mishap caused an American flag to catch fire following a pregame ceremony where the team celebrated the 40th anniversary of Hank Aaron hitting his 715th home run, passing Babe Ruth as the home run king

According to the 11Alive news affiliate in Atlanta, Braves spokeswoman Beth Marshall said that the incident occurred because they were working with new pyrotechnics.

A photo of the incident was captured by a Braves fan on Facebook:

The report indicates that for the first time, they put pyrotechnics on Braves Vision, which is the large high-definition screen in the outfield, and one of the pyrotechnics flew at the flag and set it on fire. Marshall added that the flames went out on their own because the material on the flag is flame retardant.

11Alive reports that the Braves will no longer put the pyrotechnics on Braves Vision, learning from the incident.

The flag had holes in it after the fire, but the game went on as planned and the incident didn't escalate.

It was the Braves who couldn't catch fire in the end, falling to the Mets 4-0 in their home opener at Turner Field, which dropped them to 4-3 on the season.
