Arguably hip hop's biggest sports fan will serve as host of ESPN's ESPY award show later this summer,as the network pegged Grammy Award-winning, rap-star Drake as host on Wednesday.

The man also known as the Global Ambassador of his hometown Toronto Raptors and a member of Brand Jordan seemingly was everywhere and at every arena during the recent NCAA tournament, as he cheered his favorite Kentucky Wildcats on to a runner-up finish.

On Wednesday, Drake also took to his Twitter page to pronounce his latest sport venture. "Drake is an unbelievably talented entertainer who truly has a passion for sports," ESPN VP for Films and Entertainment Connor Schell said in a statement. Later Drake added "this is an incredible opportunity for me to combine two of my biggest passions-sports and performing."

Drake the July 16 held show at L.A. Nokia Theatre, Drake will be joined by top athletes and entertainers to chronicle and celebrate the year's best moments in sports. In recent years, the award show has come to be saluted for than $1 million it raises for The V Foundation, the charity founded by the late basketball coach Jim Valvano to promote cancer research.

Drake is also known for his stage versatility, recently taking on the dual role of musical talent and show host for an episode of Saturday Night Live.
