Marcus Spears spoke from a position of experience on Monday night. His naysayers spoke from a position of ignorance.
Spears, the former Dallas Cowboys defensive end who recently joined the SEC Network as a college football analyst, had the audacity to comment on a photo he saw of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten in owner Jerry Jones' box during the Connecticut-Kentucky national championship game at Cowboy Stadium on Monday night.
Wonder if any other players get invited to these events off the cowboys team! Sends the wrong message to me pic.twitter.com/A2ZgZUsJgq

That drew some sharp comments from the Twitter world.
@mspear96 your feelings hurt? C'mon man — Casey Shaver (@cshaver34) April 8, 2014
@mspear96 @CBS11BillJones just because you weren't good enough to get an invite.

After getting bombarded by angry Cowboys fans on Twitter, Spears went on 105.3 The Fan's New School with Shan and R.J. radio show to explain his comment.
"You understand in this league that your star players are going to have things come their way that most guys don't," Spears said to the radio station. "I'm not benign to think that. I've had opportunities that some guys didn't have. ...The team aspect has always been first to me. That's just the bottom line. I don't know if it sends the right message when your head coach is hanging out with one particular guy."
Spears explained that he believes that when players on a team are not treated equally, the potential for problems arise.
Spears is speaking from his nine years of experience in the NFL, whereas his detractors are speaking behind Twitter handle names without any repercussions for their tweets.
