Derek Carr has been soaring up draft boards and is even the No. 5 pick in Sports World News’ latest mock draft, but would he be the only Carr on the team that drafts him? Reports are surfacing that many teams are interested in bringing in Derek’s brother David Carr as his backup and mentor.

Derek can be taken as high as No. 5 to Oakland, but the rumors are that there is no way he makes it out of the first round. With David being a former first round pick and a No. 1 overall pick, he would be able to help prepare Derek for the trials of being an NFL starting quarterback. Now David didn’t pan out as he was supposed to, but with the offensive line and other issues that plague expansion teams, he had a pretty terrible situation that very few would have thrived in.

Derek has been mocked to the Raiders and Browns in most mock drafts so make the assumption that those are the teams that are interested in bringing in David as well. The Raiders would be a weird situation with the recent trade for Matt Schaub, Terrelle Pryor asking for a trade and Matt McGloin showing he had some talent in 2013.

The Browns on the other hand, just purged the quarterback position by cutting Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden. The Carr brothers could be inserted immediately and be expected to compete with Brian Hoyer for the starting spot in 2014.

It would make sense for a team to bring in the Carr brothers and, if nothing else, Derek will get to hear what its like to be a first round pick from a familiar voice in his older brother. If a team thinks Derek Carr is their teams future, why wouldn't you bring in his brother to help?
