The Eastern Conference for the NHL playoffs are a log jam at the bottom. With close to 10 teams fighting for four spots the Eastern Conference the final game of the season mean everything. The Philadelphia Flyers sit at the No. 6 seed in the east, but a mini tailspin could end their playoff hopes. The regular season can’t end soon enough for this Flyers team as they struggle down the stretch.

Flyers make the playoffs if: The Flyers have hung tough with the NHL’s best that past week, but taking teams to overtime and shootouts will only get you so far. The Flyers can score in bunches and Steve Mason has been a pleasant surprise this season, but the defense has struggled. If the Flyers can finish games and get the two points over the one of forcing overtime, they can be a dangerous playoff team.
Flyers don’t make the playoffs if: They continue to play miserable defense and refuse to finish games. The Flyers have nine overtime loses this season and at least three of them got away from them late and it all rests on the defenses shoulders. If the Flyers bring the same defensive attitude to the playoffs as the regular season they are in for a very short postseason run. The Flyers had a miserable week at 1-4-2, but can solidify their contender status with a hot streak t finish the season. Philadelphia finishes the regular season with three of their four remaining games on the road.
