The Celtics sit at 23-54 and fourth in the Atlantic division with five games to play, but brighter times are ahead in Boston. The Celtics and Danny Ainge are rebuilding and at this pace it could be a historically fast turnaround.

The Celtics have a reputation for bouncing back quicker than most NBA franchises and Ainge should take sole credit for that. The combination of high value free agents and bargain draft picks have the Celtics poised to bounce back in 2014-2015.

Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk have been bright spots on this young team and when paired with Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley, the Celtics have one of the better young nuclei in basketball. The question is, can the Celtics keep the core together while managing their less than ideal cap situation.

Combine the already young talent the Celtics have with two more first round prospects and you have a team that could turn it around in a hurry. If Boston decides to hold this group of players together that have the framework for a playoff team. Rondo is a Top 5 point guard when heathy with the ability to make others around him better, but the talks of trading him haven’t dulled.

The Celtics could finish strong and carry some momentum into the offseason, but the draft is a huge part of what the Celtics success in the coming years. If the Celtics can turn it around in one year in a mediocre Eastern Conference, coach Brad Stevens has the potential to be the next big Celtics coach and Danny Ainge deserves executive of the year as well as his jersey number hanging from the rafters at the TD Garden.
