Oklahoma star quarterback Trevor Knight is conjuring up comparisons to former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow based on his Christian values and commitment to being a leader.

"Tim Tebow is second to none in the way he proclaims his faith, the way he plays and his competitiveness," Knight recently told Sports Illustrated. "He's a leader. You can see that. A lot of people give him a hard time for maybe not being the best quarterback, but he's a winner and conducts himself with class and honor."

Knight led the Sooners to a 45-31 upset win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl last season, passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns. This season even more is expected from the 6-1, 196 pound redshirt sophomore

"He's just different than you and me," Sooners co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel told SI of Knight. Part of that has been Knight growing more into his voice as one of the Sooners unquestioned leaders.

Tim Tebow still chasing NFL dreams

"I'm going to be the hardest worker on the field," he said. "Guys are going to follow. Sometimes, you'll be tired, but you've got to fake it until you make it. I want to serve others and be that example."

So much are Sooners' fans starting to believe in Knight, there's even growing talk of Oklahoma be in the running for a national championship."You come to Oklahoma to play in big games like that," said Knight. "Anything short of that is kind of a disappointment."

While at Florida, Tebow lead the Gators to a national title and later went on to play four NFL seasons, his best coming with Denver in 2011 when he passed for 1,729 yards and 12 touchdowns.
