Tonight at 6:09 p.m. ET the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Florida Gators, will try to send the No. 7 Cinderella UConn Huskies home from the Final Four at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. While UConn has overcome steep odds to reach this point, the Huskies know that Florida will be their toughest test yet.
"They are high right now. They are playing great basketball. They are sharing the basketball. They are all playing hard. They haven't lost since then. It will be really tough," Huskies forward DeAndre Daniels said Friday. "We feel great. ... I feel like nobody is playing harder than us right now. We are just out there having fun and not playing for ourselves, but playing for each other."
The key player for UConn has been Shabazz Napier, who has scored 24 or more points in three of the four tourney games the Huskies have played thus far. He's been on fire from deep especially, knocking down four treys in each of his past three games and making at least 44 percent in all three games.
The Gators know all about Napier, as he hit a buzzer beater the last time these teams met four months ago. "I was fortunate," Npier said. "I put up a lousy shot and DeAndre tipped it back out and I was able to get off a great shot. I got a second chance and was fortunate enough to make it."
UConn will need to worry about a slew of Gators capable of hurting them, especially Napier's counterpart Scottie Wilbekin.
Huskies coach Kevin Ollie isn't thinking too much about his program's past success over Florida.
"It's a different game. That was four months ago," Ollie said. "We're a different team. I'm a different coach. Billy Donovan's definitely got a better understanding of his team and what it takes for his team to win. So it's going to be a whole different game."
