If his college coach Jim Boeheim is to be asked, Syracuse star Tyler Ennis should have stayed for at least a year in school to improve his play and his stock in the NBA draft.

Zagsblog is reporting that Boeheim discussed his ex-point guard's decision to leave Syracuse for the NBA and mentioned the need for Ennis to bulk up and improve his play during an interview on SportsCenter.

"I think he's a great college player," Boeheim was quoted as saying. "I think physically he probably could've used another year. A little bit different than Dion Waiters who I had a couple of years ago who left. I think Dion was physically better, more physically ready."

Ennis declared that he was joining the NBA draft on March 27. Most NBA scouts believe he will be a lottery pick. Still, his former coach sounded unimpressed.

"I think when you go to the NBA you need to be as physically ready as you can be. So I think Tyler could've benefitted from another year, but certainly he's a tremendous player and a very, very smart point guard. And I think the one thing I think is point guard is probably the hardest position to break into in the NBA, it's a very difficult position, but he's got the skillset to do that. It's just a question of him landing in the right place."

There are other NBA observers who agree with Boeheim, like veteran writer Jack McCallum. According to Bleacher Report, McCallum observed: "Physically, I'm just not sure Tyler is ready. He's a splendid point guard, very mature. But physically he doesn't look ready to go to me."
