The honeymoon in Washington might already be over as rumors swirl that DeSean Jackson wants Robert Griffin III’s No. 10 jersey for himself in 2014.

It wouldn’t be the first time time that a new player comes to his new team and wants to wear the number he worse on his previous team. This case is interesting, however, because jerseys have been known to be very territorial and for a leader like RGIII to surrender his jersey could be viewed as a sign of weakness. Jackson has already commented on the jersey and said he and Griffin talked about it.

"I definitely am familiar with the No. 10 on Robert Griffin," Jackson said during a conference call. "But, you know, we've talked about it a little bit, but there hasn’t been a decision that’s been made yet so far, but maybe by the time season starts we'll know. But maybe RGIII will wear No. 3 and I'll try to get in 10. We'll see how it goes though. Never know.”

This issue should be resolved very quickly and expect RGIII to keep his jersey number. Sleep easy Redskins nation, you wont have to buy a new Griffin jersey anytime soon. Some recent stories concerning teammates giving up jerseys include Jets wide receiver Eric Decker paying tight end Jeff Cumberland $25,000 and a steak dinner for the rights to his No. 87.

If RGIII decides to give his jersey to Jackson, expect Griffin to top the NFL’s jersey sales for the second time with his new number. For the sake of the Redskins and the hard working fans who buy the jerseys I hope he doesn't change.
