History has a way of repeating itself and it the case of Donald trump and the NFL that is half true. Trump has been approached by the Buffalo Bills to gauge his interest in becoming the teams next owner.

Trump is no stranger to the NFL ever since he attempted to compete against and destroy the league in the 80s. Trump led the charge for the United States Football League or USFL to challenge the NFL as the dominant football league in America as well as serving as the owner of the league's New Jersey Generals.

There are no reports if Trump would be a huge part of the team going forward, but did say he is intrigued by the idea, among all the things that come across his desk.

“People have actually talked to me about the Bills,” Trump said, via ESPN.com. “I mean, the group of people called me — would I be interested in investing and I’ll take a look at it. I mean, I look at a lot of things. I’ll take a look at it. I know so many people in Buffalo and they have asked me about look at that and I certainly would look at it but I would … if it were me I’d keep the team in Buffalo. I think it’s something that is really vital to the area. … It would be catastrophic, in my opinion, if Buffalo lost the Buffalo Bills.”

When the USFL choose to move from spring to fall to directly fight the NFL it failed miserably and ended in antitrust lawsuits. The decades between then and now could work in Trump’s favor if he wishes to get back into the owner’s box. Trump is a far way from being the Bills owner, but the mutual interest is there and, being the largest sports league in the country, nothing is out of the question.
