In the copycat league that is the NFL, the Miami Dolphins look to be drawing up the same blueprint the Denver Broncos follow by reaching into the past. The Dolphins will discuss a front office position with Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino.

According to a report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami owner Stephen Ross spoke about meeting with Marino in the near future about a front office position, but said he did not know where Marino would fit in. Marino is no stranger to the Dolphins front office and was their senior vice president of football operations in 2004, but left the position after just 21 days. Marino commented on his status then and said he just wasn’t prepared for the ‘lifestyle’ change that come with the position.

The Dolphins could be looking at the success of John Elway with the Broncos and think that Marino could replicate that success on name alone. This would be just another way that Elway and Marino are tied together, the first being the fact that they were both drafted in the benchmark 1983 draft. The two Hall of Famers have been compared throughout their careers with Elway winning two Super Bowls to Marino’s infamous zero, but Marino did hold all the all-time passing records at his time of retirement.

Are the Dolphins mimicking the Broncos? Will Marino take the job? Tell us @SportsWN
