DeSean Jackson has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jackson-cPhiladelphia Eagle love connection has taken twists and turns as the weeks roll on, but that pales in comparison to the allegations of Jackson having gang ties.
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks & A.J. Perez of NJ.com they believe and have reports that the reason that Jackson is on the trading block is because of the people around him and DeSean’s deteriorating work ethic. Take it with a grain of salt as Jackson has no criminal record and has never been one to pop up on any disciplinary actions by the league, but the story carries some weight.
The entirety of Eliot Shorr-Parks & A.J. Perez piece on Jackson.
An excerpt from the piece hints at Jackson’s connections to some gang related problems, but at no point in the article is there proof of Jackson being tied to a gang directly other then his known associates.
Despite Jackson's name having come up in connection with two gang-related murders involving Crips, Crosson said police have no hard evidence that Jackson is a member of the gang, which was formed in the late 1960’s and has an estimated 35,000 members across the country. Crosson said, however, the Jackson routinely flashes Crip gang signs in photos on social media -- and even on television during an NFL game.
"You don't want to see anybody throwing up gang signs like he did in the Redskins game last year," Crosson said. "Those were neighborhood Crip gang signs and he flashed them during a game. He may not be affiliated with the gang, but they don't [ordinarily] take kindly to those not in the gang throwing up those gang signs.”
Eagles Simply "Do Not Want" DeSean Jackson?
If any of the story and reports have merit, then Jackson has some serious things to answer to in this post-Aaron Hernandez NFL. The Eagles would likely not get any compensation for Jackson in trade and would have to release him. Jackson would be wise to stay out of the public eye while this story makes it’s rounds.
