Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Montreal Canadiens (41-26-7, 89 points) and Detroit Red Wings (33-25-14, 80 points) take the ice tonight at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for the third of four meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Montreal fans can hear all of the action on TSN 690 while Detroit fans can do the same on 97.1 The Ticket.
Montreal sits in second place in the Atlantic Division and has won three straight games and six of seven while Detroit looks to snap a two game losing streak. The Red Wings have beaten the Canadiens in both prior meetings, with a 4-1 win on Jan. 24 in Detroit and a 2-1 overtime victory on Feb. 26 in Montreal.
The Canadiens are coming off of a 2-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in an ugly game after the team was drained from playing games against the rival Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins.
"You can't have the same emotion in every game, but what I liked about our team [Tuesday] was that we didn't change anything," coach Michel Therrien said, according to NHL.com.
The Red Wings will look to keep a tight hold to the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and turn around their play. Gustav Nyquist has been a spark plug, scoring goals in six straight games.
"Maybe [he] found out that he can shoot the puck," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said per NHL.com. "That's something we suggested wouldn't be such a bad idea, shooting the puck, and now he's on a roll and feeling good about himself."
The Red Wings remain without top scorer Henrik Zetterberg (16-32-48) due to a back injury. With Zetterberg sidelined, new import David Legwand is the team's top scorer with 47 points off of 12 goals and 35 assists while Niklas Kronwall has seven tallies and 37 helpers for 44 points.
Recently acquired Thomas Vanek paces the Canadiens with 59 points off of 25 goals and 34 assists while Max Pacioretty has 32 markers and 18 helpers for 50 points and P.K. Subban has lit the lamp 10 times and added 40 assists for 50 points.
Carey Price will likely play between the pipes for Montreal tonight and is 30-18-5 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage while Jimmy Howard will likely man the crease for Detroit and is 17-17-11 with a 2.68 GAA and a .911 save percentage.
The Canadiens search for their fourth straight victory while the Red Wings look to snap a two-game slide when the lights come up on the Joe Louis Arena tonight in Detroit.
