Jim Kelly should be in our thoughts and prayers all day today as he fights to defeat his greatest opponent, cancer.

The Hall of Fame quarterback for the Buffalo Bills is be fighting to try and stop the cancer from spreading. Kelly spent 11 seasons in the NFL, leading the Bills to four straight Super Bowl appearances.

Kelly has been going to the hospital frequently over the last two weeks. His wife, Jill, said the cancer is spreading.

At the hospital...gathered around JK to watch The Chapel this morning," Jill Kelly wrote. "Overwhelmed and humbled to watch Pastor Jerry and our congregation family kneel in prayer for our family...to be prayed for by name."

Kelly's daughter, Erin, has also been showing her support for her father on Social Media. She posted multiple pictures and quotes about her father on Instagram.

“Watching the Syracuse game with daddy - he's my buddy! Love him so much!! #daddysgirl #prayersforjk #Kellytough," posted by Erin on Saturday.

She also posted another one on Sunday.

"So thankful that he was up for a little walk today!! God is good!!!! And He HEALS!!!! #prayersforjk #Kellytough #daddysgirl."

Other legends in the Football World have sent out their get well wishes for Kelly.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim Kelly and his family! There's not a stronger or tougher guy to handle this battle!!” tweeted from Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway.

“Major blessing and prayers go out to the Kelly family. I pray the Jim will have a speedy recovery after this surgery,” tweeted former Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb

Life has been tough for Kelly and his family in recent memory. He lost his eight-year old son Hunter to Krabbe Disease in 2005. Krabbe is a disease that attacks the bodies' central nervous system. Hunter was only given three years to live after he was born. Kelly and his family set up the Hunter's Hope Foundation in 1997 to raise money against Krabbe Disease.

Kelly has represented the NFL with honor and integrity. His charity work and belief in helping others should not go unnoticed. He is a great example of a man who puts the needs of others ahead of his own. Bills' fans, who lost legendary owner Ralph Wilson on Tuesday, know better than anyone about the kindness of Kelly. In this, a scary day for the Kelly family, fans should act as Kelly as in the past. Send your prayers to the family. Write messages on websites, twitter, facebook, etc. Let everyone, especially the Kelly family, know you are there for them in spirit. It can make a big difference in the end.

I come from a family that believes in the power of faith. The positive message you can send to Kelly will make a difference. Put any good well wishes to Kelly and his family in the comments' section below. The entire Sports World News staff hopes Kelly will make a full recovery.
