The loaded 2014 NBA Draft had its first domino fall Thursday as Kansas’ Joel Embiid has decided to declare. Embiid is considered a top five pick and many think he will go No. 1 overall. In a draft that was suppose to be dominated by the likes of Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Marcus Smart, Embiid solidified himself as a top five prospect and rose faster than any prospect in 2014. Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news:

Private Universities Can Form Unions

Kansas star Joel Embiid – a possible No. 1 overall choice – has decided to enter the June NBA draft, sources told Yahoo Sports [...] A formal announcement on Embiid's decision is expected soon. In the past week, Embiid has progressed in settling on agent representation, but no final decision has been made, sources said.

Embiid has battled with back issues that kept him sidelined for the NCAA tournament and could be considered the reason that Kansas had such a short run in the tournament.

At 7'0", 250 pounds Embiid has the size and skill set to be an elite big man in the NBA, but his rawness will allow whatever team that drafts him to mold him in an image of their team. Some scouts believe Embiid is the only “franchise changing” player in the draft, but at this point it is all speculation.
