Just when it looked like Manhattan coach Steve Masiello had everything going his way and he was going to change addresses to South Florida, the Bulls did some research. As it turns out Masiello did not graduate from Kentucky like he indicated on his resume thus falsifying his information.

ESPN spoke with Kentucky spokeswoman Ashley Caressen about Masiello’s status as a graduate and she confirmed that Masiello did attend the university from 1996 to 2000, but never earned a degree. Masiello spoke with Caressen, but she said that their conversation or any conversation with the registers office was confidential.

Masiello played for Rick Pitino at Kentucky in 1997 and was also a part of Pitino’s staff at Louisville commented on his former player and seemed just as shocked as everyone else.

"If it's accurate, I'm shocked by it. I had no idea. I left the previous year, and he was on track to graduate.”

Masiello had a five-year deal with South Florida in place, but the deal is nullified now due to Masiello falsifying his resume and not earning a college degree. The full fallout of Masiello’s lie is not known yet as is his status as Manhattan head coach, but if he was hired under false pretenses then Manhattan might be forced to terminate Masiello as well.
