The family of jailed former NFL star Darren Sharper insists he is not getting fair treatment in the ongoing rape probe he faces, and prosecutors are using all sorts of "dirty tactics" to prevent his release on bail.

Despite having already posted $1 million bail, the 38-year Sharper remains in custody in Los Angeles on charges he raped and drugged two women, as prosecutors determine if he will be extradited to Arizona to face similar charges.

In all, as many as nine different women in five different states have accused Sharper of similar crimes.

But according to TMZ Sports, Sharper remains confident he will be cleared of all the charges and now his supporters are arguing that there is no reason for him to remained jailed, particularly given he has totally cooperated with authorities.

"Darren is a former pro athlete and made a living playing by a set of rules," a source told TMZ. "Now they see certain rules can be manipulated. All they want is a fair shot at justice ... just like anyone else's family would want."
