The on-again, off-again love/hate relationship that is the Raiders and the city of Oakland has hit another speed bump in the form of Los Angeles, again. Raiders owner Mark Davis said the team moving back to Los Angeles is something they are always looking at.
“We’re not done in Oakland. We’re trying really hard, and we’ll see how that goes. But Los Angeles is something that I’ve definitely thought about and haven’t pursued. There are other places as well. Until we can find out if Oakland is real, then I’m still staying in Oakland. If we can get something done in Oakland, I will stay in Oakland.”
Davis did say he is committed to staying in Oakland and would want to work out a deal that works for both sides to keep the team grounded. The Raiders, Rams, Jaguars, Vikings and Chargers have all been rumored to be moving to LA, but nothing has come of it and the Vikings got a new stadium deal.
Raiders, Jets Favorites for DeSean Jackson
The NFL hasn't had a team in LA since 1994 when both the Rams and Raiders played in the city. It’s no secret the NFL wants a team to return to LA and benefit from a highly touted resource for revenue that hasn't been tapped in two decades. The NFL would make a grand spectacle of the return to LA and the team that makes the move.
Mark Cuban Believes NFL Will be Gone in 10 Years
Knowing the NFL’s need to be the best and use every angle to make money, expect a team or two in LA before the 2020 season. The smart bet would be a relocated franchise, I believe the Chargers, and an expansion team would be the NFL’s move.
It’s too soon to tell however, as Davis and the Raiders mull over the possibility of heading back to LA. The one thing that is sure is that the NFL will move back into LA and it is just a matter of who and when.
