While it looked as though the WWE switched its plans by having The Shield turn face, it appears as though the trio is still headed for a split either at or after WrestleMania XXX in less than two weeks on April 6 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Triple H upset over the fact that CM Punk didn't want to wrestle him at WrestleMania XXX?
Despite the fact that The Shield turned face on WWE television recently by feuding with Kane, there is still a plan in place for the team to breakup, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com. The report indicates that the plan is for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to play the heel role as a tag team while Roman Reigns will eventually be pushed as a top babyface.
It has been rumored for a long time now that Reigns is due to get a big push, and it should be coming soon. The WWE is very high on Reigns, as evidenced by his huge performances in the traditional elimination tag match at the Survivor Series in November and in the 30-man Royal Rumble match in January.
WrestleMania XXX spoilers: Rumors on final projected card and plans for New Orleans
The Shield turning face on Monday Night RAW was reportedly done to accomplish two things. The first is that it allowed the New Age Outlaws to work a program with them as heels which the Outlaws requested, and the second is to already establish Reigns as a good guy to set up his eventual monster push.
The plan is speculated to be that Rollins and Ambrose will eventually turn on Reigns while he will be the babyface victim. The company feels it's better to have Rollins and Ambrose turn on Reigns than for Reigns to turn on them.
The current plan for WrestleMania XXX is for The Shield to take on The New Age Outlaws and Kane in a six-man tag team match. It remains to be seen if The Shield will split during that match or in the aftermath of the biggest show of the year.
