Today at 4:10 p.m. ET, No. 15 Eastern Kentucky (24-9, 11-5 OVC) and No. 2 Kansas (24-9, 14-4 Big 12) go head-to-head in NCAA March Madness tournament Round 2 action live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis as part of the Southern bracket. The game can be live streamed for free here or viewed on TBS. Kentucky fans can hear all of the action on WCYO-FM 100.7 while Kansas fans can do the same on KLWN-AM 1320
The Jayhawks come into play as the easy favorite with a history of success in the tournament and a championship caliber coach while the Colonels have a senior-laden offense that comes in as underdogs from the Ohio Valley Conference.
Kentucky doesn't mind taking on the underdog role.
"Being the underdog is always fun," said the Colonels' leading scorer Glenn Cosey via ESPN, "especially if you can pull off an upset. And a lot of people seem to get with the underdog, so it should be fun."
While there have been many memorable March Madness upsets, Cosey couldn't site one as his particular favorite, according to ESPN.
"I don't have a favorite upset memory, but I'm hoping that we can pull off one," Cosey told ESPN, "and that would be my favorite memory."
Kansas, meanwhile, touts a roster full of potent freshman that are hungry to win, though the team will be without 7-footer Joel Embiid, who is sidelined with a stress fracture in his back and will be out for the opening weekend.
"We're young. We're hungry. We want to win," Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins said per ESPN. "We're just trying to have that killer mentality. All of us just want to destroy our opponents."
While Kansas has been battle-tested all season long, there is still some concern that youthful inexperience could lead to their downfall.
"I worry about how everybody is going to respond," Kansas coach Bill Self said per ESPN. "I just want our guys to be loose, carefree and have fun. The hay is in the barn, so to speak."
There is a storyline for everyone as it will be a matchup of big vs. small, experience vs. youth and underdog vs. favorite when Kansas and Eastern Kentucky take the court today in St. Louis.
