Kobe Bryant isn't sure he's sold on the idea of Mike D'Antoni being his coach in what could be his final NBA season in 2014.
Recently appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, the Hall of Fame bound guard told the host "I don't know. It's been tough on him. He's been dealing with so many injuries. I don't know if he's gotten a fair shake."
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for someone standing on as shaky of ground as D'Antoni seems to be, particularly when it's coming from someone who yields all the power Bryant does within the organization.
Bryant has another season remaining on the two-year, $48 million deal he inked with the team prior to the season and no one expects him to be silent about the direction the team decides to take this offseason.
The contracts of most of the Lakers players end when the season does, giving the team the kind of flexibility Bryant is hoping it will use to attract such potential free agents and available stars as Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love.
But first is the matter of getting through what has easily been one of the Lakers worse seasons in team history. So bad have the Lakers been Bryant told Patrick their futility made his decision to sit out the rest of the year recovering from a leg injury an easy one.
Kobe Bryant looks to return to Lakers
The 17-year veteran guard insisted if the Lakers were in playoff position he could and would have returned to play by now.
