Reds closer Aroldis Chapman suffered a gruesome facial injury on Wednesday night and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks while recovering. Chapman was struck in the face with a line drive off the bat of Royals catcher Salvador Perez in a Cactus League game and needed to be carted off the field.

The flame-throwing closer will undergo surgery Thursday to repair fractures around his nose and left eye. The disturbing video can be seen below.

Chapman, who was also diagnosed with a mild concussion, will need 6-8 weeks of recovery time. In the meantime, fantasy owners are scrambling to replace Chapman and the Reds are likely to use the dreaded bullpen-by-committee approach.

J.J. Hoover, Jonathan Broxton, and Sean Marshall will likely share the duties until May. There is a chance that one of them emerges and holds the job until Chapman returns, but none of them are exciting for fantasy purposes.
