The state of Arizona will not seek to extradite disgraced former NFL star Darren Sharper on rape charges until after his sexual assault case in California is concluded, according to ESPN.

As many as nine different women in five different states have accused the former All-Pro safety of drugging and raping them, including two in Tempe, Ariz. last November.

In the wake of Tuesday's developments in Arizona, lawyers for Sharper asked authorities there to hold a hearing to determine if their client can be granted bail in that state. Arizona officials have hinted they believe for Sharper to be first convicted in California would strengthen their case against him.

Currently, the 38-year-old Super Bowl champ remains jailed without bail in L.A. after being charged with raping two women he met a nightclub there last October. Similar investigations targeting Sharper are also underway in Louisiana, Miami and Nevada.

Named to the NFL's 2000 All-Decade team, Sharper has pleaded not guilty in the California probe. Since retiring in 2010, he had worked as an analyst for the NFL Network before recently being terminated.
