ESPN’s Merril Hodge is no stranger to going against the curve of popular opinion. Hodge recently said that quarterback Johnny Manziel “has bust written all over him.”

Hoge was asked on set about Manziel and he didn’t hold back his true feelings about Manziel. he also states one of the trusts statements ever about highlights and perception of big plays in college. You can watch the full video above.

“He has absolutely no instinct or feel for pocket awareness. He has an instinct to run. That's a bad instinct if you're going to have that in the National Football League. You have to play in the pocket with traffic around you and throw it. When traffic comes around him, he runs, and that's dangerous in the National Football League. His skill set does not transition to the National Football League, and it is a big, big risk. In fact, I see bust written all over him, especially if he's drafted in the first round.”

Hoge has called it like he has seen it before, most notably when he said Vince Young would be a bust when he was touted as the best quarterback in the draft in 2006. Hoge took his licks with his comments, but in the end was very right before anyone else. Now Hoge believes that history will repeat itself with Johnny Manziel.
