Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (44-19-5, 93 points) and Montreal Canadiens (37-25-7, 81 points) faceoff live from the Bell Centre in Montreal for the second and final meeting between each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Colorado fans can hear all of the action on KRWZ 950 while Montreal fans can do the same on TSN 690.
Colorado enters play looking for its eighth win in 10 games while Montreal hopes to notch its third straight victory. The first time these two teams met, the Avalanche defeated the Canadiens 4-1 in Colorado on Nov. 2.
The Avalanche are coming off of a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators and coach Patrick Roy, who was a goaltender in Montreal during his legendary career, will coach in Montreal for the first time ever.
"I tried to have a simple approach to this game," Roy told NHL.com. "I don't want to put myself ahead of the players, I want to stay at the same level as them. I'm trying just to focus on coming here and seeing our players play a great game. It's not about me, it's about them."
The Canadiens are coming off of a solid weekend that saw the team defeat the Senators 5-4 on Saturday and the Buffalo Sabres 2-0 on Sunday. The team realizes it will be a special night for Roy.
"Patrick Roy is obviously a special player," goaltender Carey Price told the Canadiens website Monday. "He was one of my favorite goalies growing up, and he was the favorite of many in my generation. It'll be great to have a chance to play against him, even if it's indirectly."
Price is the likely starter tonight for the Canadiens and he's 27-17-5 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Semyon Varlamov is 34-13-5 with the Avalanche this season with a 2.49 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
Colorado has been led offensively by Matt Duchene, who has 64 points off of 22 goals and 42 assists while Ryan O'Reilly (25 tallies, 30 helpers) and Gabriel Landeskog (20 goals, 35 assists) each have 55 points.
New import Thomas Vanek leads Montreal with 54 points off of 21 goals and 33 assists while P.K. Subban has 10 markers and 38 helpers for 48 points and Max Pacioretty has lit the lamp 30 times and added 15 assists for 45 points.
Roy returns to Montreal when the puck drops tonight on the Avalanche and Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
