John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL) is on the defensive after a suspicious series of tweets linked him to being behind the "Cranky Vince" Twitter account that parodies WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

JBL tweeted from his official account: "THAT is how you start @WWE Raw! Wow! #RoadtoWrestlemania," and the Cranky Vince account then tweeted out the same exact sentence verbatim, leading to speculation that JBL is behind the account. Both tweets were sent out at 7:15 p.m. Central time.

The Cranky Vince account has often made jokes at McMahon's expense and has leaked out confidential backstage information in the past. The message was quickly deleted by the Cranky Vince account and Layfield took to his Twitter to deny any involvement with the Twitter handle.

Sting discusses wanting to face The Undertaker in one final match

"This came from an iPhone. @CrankyVince tweet came from a web browser after this one. Obvious neckbeard trying to frame," the former WWE Champion turned broadcaster wrote on Twitter, "No prob with anyone on twitter, but any claims or questions of me being someone else will get blocked immediately #notTrue."

JBL has been tied to the account in the past, and it's possible that the user of the Cranky Vince account opted to try and frame JBL by posting the exact same phrase right after JBL did as JBL's tweet appeared on the social media site first.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Mister Saint Laurent of MLW Radio said he has done extensive research on the account and came to the conclusion that JBL is behind it while former WCW wrestler Konnan, who co-hosts the radio show with Laurent, said that he knows for a fact that JBL has tweeted from the parody account before.

Konnan tweeted last year that it was JBL behind the account

"I agree with MSL..His work has been CSI meticulous..JBL u have been outed pardna," he wrote on the site.

The account has been made to parody and spoof McMahon's demeanor and thought process and has reportedly concerned officials due to the fact that they believe it's someone within the organization. Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the nature of the tweets have led to concern for WWE officials as they parody things McMahon has said behind the scenes, sometimes just moments after he says them.

It may never be known for sure who is behind the account and whether or not JBL sent out the tweets, but for now the former WWE Champion is denying it.
