Floyd Mayweather next fight 2014: Attempted murder, kidnapping rumor false? Las Vegas police squashes report, Marcos Maidana PPV still on [VIDEO]

Recently rumors spread that boxing's pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. lured two employees contracted to work on one of his Las Vegas homes to an off-site location and had them badly beaten for stealing jewelry. According to Las Vegas police, those reports are not true.

Amir Khan vs. Adrien Broner not happening on May 3 undercard?

"So I've been trying to put this rumor to rest all week," Laura Meltzer, a Las Vegas Police Department public information officer said. "We've had a variety of reports that have come out stating this event occurred. We have not had a victim come forward and make a report like what is being alleged. So if this event occurred, it's something where the victim has not come forward to the police to make an official complaint."

In fact, since there's no official complaint, the police have not even launched an investigation into the matter. They have not been contacted by any representation for the two alleged victims either, despite references made to the attorneys in the original TMZ.com story. Basically, do not expect any action to be taken against "Money" unless these victims step forward.

"As of right now, the bureau commander over there is not aware of any complaint that has been officially filed," she said. "So again, if this is a victim who is choosing not to come forward and make a report - then that's up to the victim to do. We don't have any say in that. There is no criminal complaint on file so there is no reason to go and contact Mr. Mayweather."

Floyd Mayweather in danger vs. Marcos Maidana?

Mayweather was allegedly facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges, which clearly would've cast doubt on his May 3 date with Marcos "El Chino" Maidana. That seems to be a go still, however, and he's heavily promoting the upcoming bout on Twitter.

The typically brash Floyd is either mellowing out in his advanced (for boxing) age or he genuinely respects Maidana's power punching, because he's made few, if any, disparaging remarks about the Argentine slugger.

"You can't take any fighter for granted, anything can happen," Mayweather said. "... This guy is tailor-made to make a war."
