Carmelo Anthony thinks the man set to be his new boss is "just a guy with another opinion."

Named as the Knicks' president of basketball operations this week, Phil Jackson previously criticized Anthony as someone who needed to be a "better passer" and later added to HBO's Real Sports "the ball can't stop every time it hits his hands. They need to have someone come in that can kind of blend that group together."

The Knicks are expected to formally introduce Jackson as the face of the franchise on Tuesday, and in an interview with the New York Post on Friday Anthony was already seeking to soothe ruffled feathers.

"Maybe at that time, I was shooting the ball a little bit too much," Anthony conceded to The Post. "I really don't know what to say or how to respond to those comments. In the past I've heard Phil said some things about me. But I don't take it personal. I don't take it no way."

Anthony added he would like a sit-down with the 11-time coaching champion at the earliest moment of their mutual convenience.

"If he's coming on board, I'm pretty sure he's going to want to sit down and talk," Anthony told the newspaper. "I'm hoping to sit down and just have a conversation. At the end of the day, it's Phil Jackson, man. I'm pretty sure all you guys would want to have a one-on-one with him. I'm the same."
