March Madness 2014 top seeds: Which projected number one falls before Sweet 16? Can Oklahoma State beat a no. 1 seed? [GIF]

Using Joe Lunardi’s projected bracket for the NCAA basketball tournament the number one seeds would be Villanova, Wichita State, Arizona and Florida. With Lunardi being almost 100% on his tournament predictions we can look and see which top seed is on upset alert before he Sweet 16. Mind you all these match ups are subject to change and the odds are the bracket will change before tomorrow.

Sports World News Guide to March Madness Brackets

Florida:
The top seed overall and leader of the South division in Memphis, Florida has a nice soft landing into the Sweet 16. They would start their tournament against Wofford and then the winner of Stanford and Massachusetts. Florida should have no problem beating any of those three teams and should walk into a possible matchup with UConn or San Diego State in Sweet 16.
Odds to lose before Sweet 16: 500 to 1

March Madness: Sleepers to Make Sweet 16

Villanova:
Villanova is the latest team to have a number one seed and looks like they will be holding onto it for selection Sunday. Villanova would be playing in the East division in New York against the play in winner of Coastal Carolina and Texas Southern. Villanova should handle the winner easily and no 16 seed has ever beaten a one seed so no worries here. George Washington and Pittsburgh could make for an interesting second round matchup for Villanova and isn’t as ideal as Florida’s matchup. Villanova should make it to the Sweet 16, but from there on go on upset alert against either five seed Ohio State or four seed Louisville. I wouldn’t be too sure Villanova can survive that matchup.
Odds to lose before Sweet 16: 250 to 1

Arizona:
Arizona is back in as a number one seed and will meet the winner of Memphis and Kansas State after they beat Weber State in round one. Memphis is a tough matchup for a one seed in the round of 32 and should test Arizona very early. If Memphis can out together a solid game against Kansas State and bring some momentum into the Arizona game they can push the Wildcats to the brink. The winner of that matchup would see either Oklahoma or Michigan State in a perfect world.
Odds to lose before Sweet 16: 150 to 1

Wichita State:
I love the Shockers story and their historic run to being undefeated, but I don’t love their chances in the tournament. The rumors have been that Oklahoma State would be a eight or nine seed and would cause major problems for a one seed of they win their first game. Not only is OK State a nine seed, but they would play the most “unproven” of the number one seeds. Now I am not picking the Cowboys to win, but they are the most likely to win before a date with UNC or Cincinnati in the Sweet 16. Buckle your seat belts.
Odds to lose before Sweet 16: 75 to 1
