Can the New York Knicks pry the biggest star in the game, LeBron James, from the Miami Heat now that legendary coach Phil Jackson is on board as team president?

Frank Isola of NY Daily News is reporting that a Lebron James confidant suggested that there is a chance that the Miami Heat superstar could look at the New York Knicks as a possible destination should he opt out of his deal this summer.

"There's no way LeBron would have gone to New York under the current climate," the James confidant told the media outlet. "He had a falling-out with CAA (agency) and that was a problem as well. But with Phil there I think he will look at it."

The CAA agency represents current Knicks players Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Andrea Bargnani as well as coach Mike Woodson.

Jackson's entry to the Knicks gives the franchise some credibility especially among future free agents like Anthony, James, Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love and Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo. As one NBA general manager told Isola: "Phil can help the Knicks because he gives them a face and credibility. But these big free agents are only going to a place where they feel they can win. Phil has to build something first."

It would be interesting how Jackson will rebuild the Knicks given its bloated payroll. Even if Anthony leaves the team, the Knicks are still stacked with horrible contracts. Amar'e Stoudemire is making $23 million, Tyson Chandler is owed $14.6 million and Andrea Bargnani will be paid $11.5 million through the 2014-15 season.
