Johnny Manziel has a fan in Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers recently appeared on an episode of Showtime's the Jim Rome Show where he raved about the former Heisman Trophy winner's abilities and how he admired the way he "didn't apologize" whenever he seemed to face adversity.

"I like Johnny Football," said Rodgers. "I like that he didn't apologize for what happened. He was a 20-year-old kid who was enjoying life. He had some more opportunities financially with his family growing up, which allowed him in college, because of the bizarre extra benefit rules, to do some pretty cool things. I think the way he plays on the field speaks for itself. He makes a lot of plays happen."

Rodgers later compared Manziel's versatile to that of Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, Cam Newton and Andrew Luck. "You have to be able to make plays if the pocket breaks down, unless you're a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning," he told Rome.

Rodgers added he thinks Manziel's mental toughness and unwavering confidence will go a long way in helping him command a locker room and become a team leader.

"I like Johnny, his confidence," he told Rome. "As a quarterback, it's one of the most important things you can have. You need to be mentally tough, physically tough. I think he is both of those. He played with some injuries this year. Mentally he's been through a lot. He's got to be a tough guy."
