Danny Garcia earned the biggest victory of his young career on September 14, 2013, when he defeated the "Argentine Machine" Lucas Matthysse on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Canelo Alvarez. Matthysse was favored despite Garcia entering the ring with a spotless record, and his underdog storyline grew when he was passed over as Mayweather's latest opponent.
With no interest in a dangerous rematch against Matthysse, Garcia's decided to face little-known Mauricio Herrera (20-3-0, 7 KO) in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Herrera's power is basically non-existent, and the fight seems like a setup for Garcia to position himself as Puerto Rico's next great hope.
By organizing a massive turnout in Bayamon, Garcia will become the heir to Miguel Cotto as boxing-mad Puerto Rico's chosen one, thus increasing his star power. With that billing though, it means Garcia will have to step up the competition going forward.
Here are five potential fights for "Swift" to take assuming he gets past Herrera on Saturday.
