Jon Jones, the top pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts and current UFC light heavyweight champion, is often derided as "afraid" by other combatants in his weight class. Recent comments by the man called "Bones" may not do much to quell the talk.

Phil Davis calls Jon Jones soft?

Jones is set to face Glover Teixeira at UFC 172, which was an unpopular choice among fans who wanted to see him face off with Alexander Gustafsson again. Jones and Gustafsson went to war in Jones' last bout, and although he escaped with his belt it was by far the most harrowing challenge of his career.

Rather than grand an immediate rematch though, he chose to face Teixeira, and now wants Gustafsson to jump through hoops for another shot. According to Jones, he'd like to see Gustafsson take on another frequent antagonist, Daniel Cormier, with the winner meeting the champ.

Daniel Cormier begs "Bones" for title shot?

"Why not give the winner of Alexander and [Daniel Cormier] the winner of myself and Glover?? Call me what you want but I can't be the only person who thinks that makes perfect sense," Jones said via Twitter.

"I see DC congratulating Alexander and making comments about waiting his turn now. I wonder if they're afraid to fight each other? People who don't like to think are quick to call me afraid. Think about it, I'm asking for the meanest of the two would you face winner of Phil vs Anthony?"

Gustafsson should be available soon enough, after taking down previously undefeated Jimi Manuwa last Friday night. Cormier just defeated Patrick Cummins easily on the undercard of UFC 170. The win has been discarded because of Cummins' lack of renown, but it should be noted Cormier was originally slated to take on Rashad Evans, a far more respected opponent.

Before any of that though, Jones must defeat Teixeira. While Glover is a highly respected fighter, his resume doesn't match that of Gustafsson; Teixeira's biggest win to date is a victory over Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
