Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET the slumping Miami Heat (43-17) will return home to American Airlines Arena where they'll host the athletic and hungry Washington Wizards (33-29) who have won two straight coming into this contest. Live stream the game by clicking this link; Wizards fans can find the radio broadcast on Sports Radio 106.7 The Fan, while Heat fans can hear the action on 560 WQAM.
Tonight's matchup pits two of the game's premier players, LeBron James of the defending champion Heat and John Wall of the upstart Wizards, against one another. James is accomplishing the impressive feat of leading his team in scoring (27.1 PPG), rebounding (7.0 RPG ) and assists (6.4 APG), but Wall isn't too far behind.
Wall leads the Wiz in scoring with 19.7 points a night as well as assists with 8.8. Wall may present problems for a Heat team that has looked tired down the stretch. Even James has been off, allowing himself to be stripped on a potential game-winning layup vs. the Chicago Bulls Sunday afternoon.
"I dropped the ball. It's like a double entendre," James said. "I actually dropped the ball, but I dropped the ball on my team." During Miami's three-game skid, James has shot a putrid (by his standards) 39 percent, while averaging jut 19.3 points a game.
Wall and Bradley Beal form one of the NBA's most dynamic backcourts, and the two of them combined to turn a three-point lead against Milwaukee on Saturday into an 11-point lead in under a minute. "We've got to learn from this game," Beal said after the W. "We've got a tough Miami team coming in so we definitely have to be on edge and ready to go from the jump."
The Wizards have also won five consecutive road games, but they could be sprinting into a buzzsaw tonight. The Heat are 24-4 in their building this year.
